لينا بن مهني ، التي اقترن اسمها كثيرا بثورة 14 جانفي 2011 ، عرفت اساسا كناشطة في مجالات حقوق الإنسان ومكافحة رقابة الإنترنات وحرية التدوين وحرية التعبير، وشاركت في حملات لإطلاق سراح الطلبة المسجونين لنشاطهم السياسي في عهد الرئيس الراحل زين العابدين بن علي وشاركت في أغلب المظاهرات التي نظّمت في العاصمة وفي اعتصام القصبة 1 و2 بعد الثورة.
لينا بن مهني التي لقبت بايقونة الثورة التونسية ، كانت تتمتع بارادة قوية وروح عفوية ومحبة للجميع ساعدتها على التغلب على مرضها وحتى على قدرتها الجبارة على التعايش مع هذا المرض راضية ومقتنعة بقضاء الله وقدره .
ترجلت لينا بعد كفاح وجنود مضنية في مجالات متعددة فقد كانت عضوة سابقة في الهيئة الوطنية المستقلة لإصلاح الإعلام والاتصال قبل أن تقدّم استقالتها يوم 27 ماي 2018، وكانت تعمل كذلك أستاذة جامعية في اللغة الإنجليزية، عرفت بمعارضتها لسياسة حجب المواقع على شبكة الانترنت زمن نظام بن علي وكتبت في مدونتها ”بنية تونسية” ،التي تم حجبها عدة مرات قبل الثورة، وفي موقع الأصوات العالمية.
فقيدة تونس المدونة لينا بن مهني حاضرة وستبقى حاضرة من خلال الفيديوهات التي ظهرت فيها حول المظاهرات التي عمت عديد الأماكن في تونس خلال الثورة لبرنامج مراقبون على فرانس 24 العربية، وتنقّلت يوم 9 جانفي إلى مدينة الرقاب بولاية سيدي بوزيد التي شهدت احتجاجات عارمة وقامت بتصوير القتلى في المستشفى المحلي ووضعت الصور في مدونتها لتنتشر في أنحاء العالم.
وكانت الفقيدة قد رشحت جائزة نوبل للسلام عام 2011، حيث انها كانت من بين أقوى 100 امرأة عربية سنتي 2012 و2013 ..رحم الله الفقيدة وألهم أهلها جميل الصبر والسلوان، وإنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون.
