كما أولت سلطنة عُمان اهتمامًا بالغًا بحماية البيئة والحفاظ على مواردها الطبيعية المختلفة، ويمثّل اعتمادُ حضرةِ صاحبِ الجلالةِ السُّلطان هيثم بن طارق عام 2050م موعدًا لتحقيق الحياد الصفري الكربوني، وإعداد خطة وطنية له، وإنشاء مركز عُمان للاستدامة بناء على مخرجات مختبر إدارة الكربون، خطوة مهمّة في تقليل آثار التغير المناخي من خلال الإجراءات المتبعة للحدّ منها وتحقيق التوازن بين التنمية المستدامة والحدّ من تداعيات تغيّر المناخ، وبناء اقتصاد المعرفة، والاستفادة من التكنولوجيا النظيفة لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، وإيجاد مزيج متنوع من مصادر الطاقة.
