يبدو أن ليس أدهى من أن تنطلق من مشهد يركز على وجه الكبير محمد إدريس فتذهب به نحو سرد القصة، “سي فرج” تدور حوله جميع الأحداث في نسق دائري ينطلق منه ويعود إليه وأثناء دورانه تمر بجميع الشخصيات فلا تكاد تعرف الأساسية منها والثانوية. يحافظ محمد إدريس في دور فرج على هدوئه المستفز ونظراته الثاقبة ونبرة صوته ذا البحة الجميلة، يقود البيت بمن فيه والميناء بجميع ما فيه حتى انه حين قرر أن يتزوج ابنه علي المقيم بمرسيليا ابنةَ أخيه سارة لم يعارضه احد وانتصب العرسُ في انتظار وصول العريس( محمد علي بن جمعة).
